Serpent Egg by David Nash

David Nash is best known for works in wood and his shaping of living trees. His large wood sculptures are sometimes carved or partially burned to produce blackening. He creates his sculptures using a chainsaw and an axe to carve the wood and a blowtorch to char the wood. He has also produced installations, drawings and film. He recently exhibited at Kew Gardens in London with his installation "A Natural Gallery".

Serpent Egg was donated to support The Campaign for Drawing. It touches upon the relationship between humanity and nature which is often a prevailing theme in his work.
